Dr. Phil Weight Loss Challenge
Dr. Phil McGraw promotes weight loss by separating food into two categories: high-response cost and low-response cost. According to Dr. Phil, high-response cost foods take time to prepare and eat, and so are not easily accessible or available to eat rapidly or uncontrollably. High-response cost foods include meat, poultry, fruit, vegetables, beans and legumes, whole grains and some cereals. Low-response cost foods are easy to prepare and eat, and leave you prone to eating larger amounts in a quick fashion. In addition to these two categories, Dr. Phil separated foods into two separate categories according to their nutritional value: high-yield and low-yield. High-yield foods provide a high level of nutrients relative to the amount of calories. Low-yield foods are just the opposite. The best combination of the four categories are high-response cost, high-yield foods, which Dr. Phil says are hunger suppressors that promote fast weight loss. The Dr. PhilWeight Loss Challenge is described in more detail in Dr. Phil's book, The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution. He advocates that losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight is a combination of diet and exercise, and is a choice that should last a lifetime.
